Juddmonte Farm's Oasis Dream, a contender for the Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT), took to the Santa Anita turf well Thursday morning, breezing a half-mile in :47 under jockey Richard Hughes.
"I had a second or two up my sleeve," Hughes said. "He wasn't on full trot."
Trainer John Gosden expressed surprise at the time. "That does surprise me. Maybe the clockers caught him a little bit late, they might have been snoozing," he joked. "He did it very easily, without him (Hughes) moving, and he did it well."
