Second-crop stallion Banker's Gold has been acquired by Thomas Reigle's Reigle Heir Farms, where he will stand for $3,500, or $3,000 for state-breds, at the Grantville, Pa., nursery.
A son of sire of sires Forty Niner, out of the grade I stakes-winning Nijinsky II mare Banker's Lady, Banker's Gold was a New York grade II winner two years, capturing the Peter Pan Stakes at three and the Tom Fool Handicap at four. His career stakes-placings came in a runner-up effort in the Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I), in which he defeated Distorted Humor, Stormin Fever, and Elusive Quality, as well as a second-place finish in the Carter Handicap (gr. I) and a third in the Dwyer Stakes (gr. II). During his career, he won or placed in 10 of 15 races and earned $461,420.
Banker's Gold, who ranked in the top 20 on last year's leading freshman list, is represented by stakes winners Jenny's Prospector and Mr. Decatur. Banker's Gold formerly stood at Brereton C. Jones' Airdrie Stud near Midway, Ky.
