Two contenders for the Breeders' Cup Classic – Powered by Dodge (gr. I) turned in their final works in preparation for Saturday's World Thoroughbred Championships at Belmont Park.

Defending Classic winner Volponi put in a three furlong breeze of :35 under jockey Jose Santos over Belmont Park's training track.

"He's cooling out right now, and everything is perfect," Hall of Fame trainer Phil "P.G." Johnson, who will ship to Santa Anita on Wednesday. "It was cold this morning when I first got here – about 37 degrees – but it warmed up to about 48 when he went out. He went his first eighth in 1:2 1/5 and he galloped out (a half) in :47 2/5. That track was good, and he's right where I want him."

Santos was aboard last year when Amherst Stable and Spruce Pond Stable's Volponi won the Classic at 43-1 odds.

Catherine Wills and Peter Karches' Dynever, a 3-year-old Dynaformer colt, worked four furlongs in :49 1/5 under exerciser rider Christophe Lorieul. He will arrive in Santa Anita on Tuesday, while trainer Christophe Clement will arrive Wednesday.

"I thought he worked very well," Clement said. "He did what I wanted him to do and we are ready."

Corey Nakatani will have the mount on Dynever in the Classic.
