Drysdale Runners, Others Work at Santa Anita

Probable John Deere Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. IT) favorite Storming Home worked seven furlongs in 1:28 2/5 in company with NetJets Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) hopeful Sarafan, who was clocked in 1:28 4/5 over Santa Anita's firm turf course Sunday. It was easily the hottest time of the morning nearing 90 degrees, but neither horse seemed bothered, according to Hall of Fame trainer Neil Drysdale

"They went very well," Drysdale said. "(The heat) is not much of a concern because it was much hotter in Chicago and much more humid."

Former jockey Corey Black was aboard Storming Home and was impressed with the 5-year-old son of Machiavellian -- Try to Catch Me (by Shareef Dancer).

"I didn't think he could have been more impressive than he was when he worked last week, but he was."

Other notable names on Santa Anita's worktab Sunday were Action This Day, who went five furlongs in 1:01 1/5 in preparation for the Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I); Mile hopeful Tastes of Paradise, who logged five-eighths in 1:11 4/5; Mile Contender Special Ring posted a half-mile in :46 2/5 with jockey David Flores aboard; and Sprint contender Zavata, who earned five furlongs in :59 3/5 under jockey Tony Farina.
