Five-year-old Swept Overboard. who hasn't run since winning the Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I) in May, is scheduled to run in the Oct. 5 Ancient Title Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. I) and the Oct. 26 Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) in his final two starts for John Paul Reddam. Reddam bought Swept Overboard in training for $700,000 from the estate of Marshall Naify at the 2000 Barretts July mixed sale.
Swept Overboard, who ran a close fourth in last year's Sprint, has compiled a record of eight wins from 18 starts and $1,125,205 in earnings. His other grade I win came in last year's Ancient Title Breeders' Cup at six furlongs in 1:07.67 over the previous year's champion sprinter, Kona Gold..
Bred by Harry Mangurian Jr., Swept Overboard is the second stakes winner produced from the Cutlass mare Sheer Ice, who won 10 stakes and earned $432,425.
