A memorial wreath was placed next to the bust of Bill Shoemaker in the paddock area of Santa Anita.
A memorial for legendary jockey Bill Shoemaker will be held at Santa Anita Park on Tuesday, October 21, at 4 p.m. The Shoemaker family has invited the public to attend this tribute to the Hall of Fame rider who passed away Sunday morning at his home in nearby San Marino. He was 72 years old.

The ceremony will take place in the winner's circle and Santa Anita will open the grandstand for the event.

In lieu of flowers, the Shoemaker family asked that donations be made to the Shoemaker Foundation, the Don MacBeth Memorial Jockey Fund, or the Paralysis Project.
