Grade I winner Honest Lady, who closed out her career with a runner-up effort in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I), has arrived at Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms near Lexington. A Juddmonte homebred who was foaled at the farm, Honest Lady won this year's Santa Monica (gr. I), A Gleam (gr. II), and Distaff Breeders' Cup (gr. II) Handicaps, plus the 1999 Santa Ynez Stakes (gr. II). Against males earlier this year, she finished second in the Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I). Trained by Bobby Frankel, she was retired with six wins from 15 starts and earnings of $894,168.
A 4-year-old daughter of Seattle Slew, Honest Lady was produced from Juddmonte homebred grade I winner Toussaud (by Northern Dancer's son El Gran Senor). Among the stallions under consideration for Honest Lady are Storm Cat and Danzig, both of whom trace to Northern Dancer in male line. Honest Lady's millionaire half-brother, Chester House, was retired earlier this year and will enter stud at Juddmonte in 2001.
