A memorial service will be held to honor the life of Karri Casner on Saturday at 11 a.m. (CDT) at White's Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake, Texas. Casner, who died in the Oct. 12 terrorist attack on the Indonesian island of Bali, was a daughter of Bill and Susan Casner, who are partners with Kenny and Lisa Troutt in WinStar Farm near Versailles Ky.
Karri Casner, 23, was a graduate of Carroll High in South Lake and the University of Colorado at Boulder, from which she received a business degree earlier this year.
"Karri was an amazing young woman," said Bill, Susan, and Kayce (Karri's sister) Casner in a prepared statement. "She had the desire and natural ability to connect with people, to make friends and keep them, young and old, male or female. She loved life and people loved her. She never hesitated to show her love for her family with a hug, a kiss, or a hand held. She made people feel special. She was our little girl and her sister's best friend. We will miss her immensely."
Said Doug Cauthen, the president of WinStar Farm, in another prepared statement: "Karri was like a magnet. People were practically compelled to be around her, because when you were with Karri, you basked in her energy and enthusiasm for life. We will all miss her greatly. But the best way to honor her memory will be to live life to the fullest--just like Karri taught us."
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made on Karri's behalf to the following organizations:
The Race For Education Inc. -- Karri Casner Memorial Scholarship Fund; P.O. Box 2093, Lexington, Ky. 40588.
