Ridden by Dario Vargiu, the 3-year-old English-bred son of Efisio was held up toward the rear of the 10-horse field until making headway three furlongs out. Blatant, with Frankie Dettori in the irons, was second most of the way before taking the lead from Passing Glance with a quarter-mile to go and was determined in defeat.

Dettori was taken off his mount in the next race after complaining of illness due to dehydration because of the heat.

Salselon came on for third place, 1 1/2 length behind Blatant in the one-mile group I fixture. The time for the mile on good going was 1:38.2.
