Champion Outstandingly, who won the first Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) upon the disqualification of Fran's Valentine, was euthanized today at Gainsborough Farm near Lexington due to the longtime effects of chronic laminitis.

By Exclusive Native out of the Round Table mare La Mesa, Outstandingly was bred and raced for Lou and Patrice Wolfon's Harbor View Farm. She was trained by Frank Martin.

Outstandingly made 28 starts from two to five and won 10 races and $1,412,206. She won the Eclipse Award for juvenile fillies in 1984 when besides the Breeders' Cup, she won the Hollywood Starlet Stakes (gr. I) and ran second in the Adirondack Stakes (gr. II).

She won two more graded stakes during her career, at age four winning the Wilshire Handicap and Las Palmas Handicap (both gr. IIT).

Outstandingly was sold at the 1988 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky sale November by the Wolfson's Harbor View Farm with Eaton-Williams as agent. In foal to Caro, she topped the sale at $1,150,000, being purchased in the name of Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stud.

As a broodmare, Outstandingly is the dam of Falmouth Stakes (Eng-II) winner Sensation. She has an unraced juvenile filly by Capote, and a yearling filly by Aljabr. She was barren this year after being bred to Cherokee Run.

Her dam, La Mesa, is the third dam of last year's Hopeful Stakes (gr. I) winner Sky Mesa.
