After weeks of indecision, Perfect Drift will take his place in the starting gate for the Breeders' Cup Classic – Powered by Dodge (gr. I), according to Bryan Reed, son of owner Dr. William Reed.

"We've made our decision and we're definitely planning on running in the Classic," Reed said Wednesday night.

Perfect Drift can control his own destiny for Horse of the Year honors with a victory in the Classic, having already defeated Mineshaft and Congaree. Although a victory would not assure the gelding of the award, it would certainly give him the credentials.

Also vying for Horse of the Year honors in the Classic are Congaree, Medaglia d'Oro, and possibly Ten Most Wanted.

No decision has been made regarding a replacement for regular rider Pat Day.
