Moviegoers got their first taste of "Seabiscuit" the movie this week with the debut in theaters of the preview promoting the coming summer's blockbuster.
The 90-second promotion reflects the tone of writer-director Gary Ross' adaptation of Laura Hillenbrand's runaway best-seller, "Seabiscuit: An American Legend" (Random House). Beautifully photographed, the preview juxtaposes vintage Depression era footage with shots of a galloping bay and the phrase, "America found an unlikely word for hope – Seabiscuit."
Starring Tobey Maguire, Jeff Bridges, Chris Cooper and William H. Macy, the Universal-DreamWorks-Spyglass Entertainment film is scheduled for release July 25, 2003.
