Habibti, a two-time grade I winner at two and an Eclipse Award runner-up, has been retired from racing. The 4-year-old Tabasco Cat filly ran seventh in the Dec. 28 La Brea Stakes (gr. I) in what turned out to be her final start.

Trained by Bob Baffert for The Thoroughbred Corp., Habibti won a maiden race and the Del Mar Debutante Stakes (gr. I) in her first two starts. She then ran unplaced in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) as the third-betting choice, then redeemed herself with a victory in the Hollywood Starlet Stakes (gr. I).

Habibti, who was bred by Rosemont Farm and produced from the Temperence Hill mare Miss Sobriety, failed to find the winner's circle in seven 2002 starts, but did manage to place in four stakes, including the grade I Kentucky and Santa Anita Oaks and the Las Virgenes Stakes.

Habibti will remain with Baffert for another week to 10 days, then sent to Kentucky. Breeding plans are incomplete.
