Fees for Fusaichi Pegasus, Giant's Causeway Reduced

Ashford Stud announced a major reduction in the 2004 fees for young stallions Fusaichi Pegasus and Giant's Causeway, both of whom stood the past breeding season for $125,000. Fusaichi Pegasus, whose first yearlings have averaged $336,878 this year, will stand for $85,000. Giant's Causeway, whose yearling average is $277,000 from this year's first crop, will hold court at $75,000.

Ashford, located near Versailles, Ky., also announced a $20,000 rise in the fee for Grand Slam and $15,000 for Tale of the Cat. Grand Slam, whose oldest runners are 3-year-olds, ranks 14th on the 2003 general list with $4 million in progeny earnings and will stand next year for $50,000. Tale of the Cat, whose runners have earned $3.2 million, will stand for $40,000

Ashford announced a drop in the fee for Thunder Gulch, who was the leading sire by progeny earnings in 2001. He stood in 2003 for $65,000, but will be available to breeders for $50,000 next year.

Ashford also announced fees of $35,000 for Hennessy; $30,000 for Johannesburg; $25,000 for High Yield, Stravinsky, and Woodman; $20,000 for Royal Academy; $17,500 for Honour and Glory; and $10,000 for Black Minnaloushe.
