Dual group I winner Alamshar, the sole horse to beat recent Arc winner Dalakhani, has been sold to the Japan Racing Association for stallion duty beginning next year, according to the Racing Post. A homebred for the Aga Khan, Alamshar is scheduled to run in the Oct. 18 Emirates Airline Champion Stakes (Eng-I) at Newmarket prior to departing for Japan.

Alamshar defeated Dalakhani, who also is owned by the Aga Khan, in the Budweiser Irish Derby (Ire-I) in June. A month later, he defeated older horses in winning the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Stakes (Eng-I). The Irish-bred son of Key of Luckhas won two other Irish group events during his career, and holds a lifetime record of five wins and two placings from eight starts.

Alamshar, who was produced from the Shahrastani mare Alaiyda, ran third in the Vodafone Epsom Derby (Eng-I).
