Edited from Equibase reports
Bobby Frankel and Jerry Bailey each established new North American single season records over the weekend and are on track to set other marks before the racing year is over, according to Equibase Company, the Thoroughbred industry's official database for racing information.

By saddling Sightseek to victory in Saturday's Beldame (gr. I) at Belmont Park, Frankel broke D. Wayne Lukas' single season record for North American grade I stakes wins by a trainer. Frankel has saddled 23 grade I winners so far this year, compared with the 22 for Lukas in 1987.

With stable earnings of $16,576,941, Frankel is on track to eclipse Lukas' record of $17,842,358 in 1988.

With his victories aboard Sightseek in the Beldame and Birdstone in the Champagne Stakes (gr. I), and a second-place finish aboard Proud Man in the Kelso Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. IIT) at Belmont Park, Bailey surpassed his own single season record for North American purse earnings by a jockey with $19,479,703. With 60 stakes wins to his credit this year, Bailey is eight behind Mike Smith's record 68 stakes wins in 1994.
