Bob and Beverly Lewis' Senor Swinger worked six furlongs in 1:15 2/5 around the dogs over Santa Anita's firm turf course Sunday in what could be a prep for the Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) on Oct. 25, trainer Bob Baffert said.
The gray son of El Prado was fourth in the Sept. 6 Del Mar Derby (gr. IIT) in his last start. He won the Crown Royal American Turf Stakes (gr. IIIT) and Jefferson Cup (gr. IIIT) earlier this year. Those two efforts that may earn the colt a spot in the Breeders' Cup starting gate.
"Anything can happen," Baffert said. "Horses fall out all the time and you never know what can happen."
Senor Swinger has banked $360,180 with a career line of 10-4-0-1.
