Heavy favorite Excessive Pleasure set all of the fractions but could not hold off Valid Video in an all-out stretch run in the $250,000 Ocala Stud Sunshine Millions Dash for 3-year-olds at Gulfstream Saturday.
Valid Video prevailed by a half-length in a final seven-furlong time of 1:22.38. It was more than three lengths back to Supah Blitz in third.
Ridden by Edgar Prado, the Florida-bred gelding by Valid Wager is owned by M. Fehsenfeld and trained by Dennis Manning.
Valid Video was third on the rail while Excessive Pleasure, the 4-5 favorite in the field of seven, rattled off fractions of :22.40 and :44.68. He drew even with the leader as the pair hit the stretch and pulled away from the field.
Winner of the Sapling (gr. III) at Monmouth Aug. 10, Valid Video has been idle since finishing a distant fourth to Whywhywhy in the Belmont Futurity (gr. I) Sept. 15. He is now 3-for-4 lifetime with earnings of $241,200.
Valid Video, off at 5-2, paid $7.40, $3.80 and $3. Excessive Pleasure, with Pat Valenzuela riding, returned $2.60 and $2.20. Supah Blitz, with jockey Cornelio Velasquez aboard, paid $2.20 to show. The $2 exacta was $17.60.
