Rochester Bids for Sycamore Repeat

Augustin Stable's Rochester, who returned to form in the Kentucky Cup Turf Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Kentucky Downs, securing the victory after the disqualification of Art Variety, will try to repeat last year's win in the $150,000 Sycamore Breeders' Cup (gr. IIIT) Saturday at Keeneland.

The 7-year-old son of Green Dancer beat 2001 Brazilian Horse of the Year Roxinho to the wire in last year's Sycamore and is a top contender again this fall. Trainer Jonathan Sheppard will give a leg-up to Eddie Martin, Jr.

The Sycamore is run at the marathon distance of 1 1/2 miles on the turf.

Iron Country Farms and Jess Miller Trust's Irish-bred Sharbayan comes off a three-quarters of a length victory over Roxinho in an overnight stakes at Arlington Park at the same distance. The Wally Dollase trainee is a perfect two-for-two on the Keeneland lawn and will have the Lexington track's all-time leading rider Pat Day in the saddle.

Ultra-consistent Revved Up hails from the Christophe Clement stable. Owned by the Live Oak Plantation of Campbell's Soup heiress Charlotte Weber, the homebred son of Sultry Song just finished second to Strut The Stage in the Niagara Breeders' Cup Handicap at Woodbine. Edgar Prado takes the reins for the Sycamore.
