Michael Tabor's Lion Tamer, the six-length winner of the grade II Hutcheson at Gulfstream on February 15, remains under consideration for the Florida Derby, trainer Todd Pletcher indicated Wednesday. "He'll work early next week and we'll make an evaluation after that," Pletcher said. "Right now, either the Florida Derby or the (gr. II) Lane's End Stakes at Turfway March 22 are both under consideration." Pletcher also has Tabor's Aristocat still listed as a possible starter in the Florida Derby. "At this time, Aristocat is more probable for the (gr. III) Tampa Bay Derby," Pletcher said, speaking of the mile and a sixteenth event on the West Coast of Florida, 'but there's still an outside shot that he'll go in the Florida Derby. "All three horses will work Sunday, Monday or Tuesday of next week," Pletcher said. "Then we'll make more definitive plans after that.' Concerning riding assignments, Pletcher indicated that he had a firm commitment from John Velazquez for the Florida Derby, regardless of which horse or horses would be starters.
