Elaine C. Bassford's 5-year-old Dynamic Trick earned his first graded stakes win at Laurel Park Saturday, when he held off the late rush of betting favorite Adcat to win the Laurel Turf Cup Stakes (gr. IIIT) by a neck in a blanket finish. Antitrust finished third, a half-length behind Adcat and a neck ahead of Maria's Tiara, who was just a half-length ahead of Holditholditholdit. Hardy's Halo finished sixth, followed by Cynic's Beware, Rasby, and Mocefis.

Dynamic Trick (Dynaformer--Pretty Tricky, by Clever Trick) completed the 1 1/2 miles in 2:29.02 on firm turf. Last month at Laurel, the King Leatherbury-trained Dynamic Trick earned his first career stakes win, taking the listed Bald Eagle Breeders' Cup Handicap by three-quarters of a length over Indy Vidual. Dynamic Trick earned $60,000 for Saturday's win, his ninth in 40 career starts. He was bred in Maryland by Mr. and Mrs. Charles N. Bassford and was ridden to victory by Mark Johnston.

Dynamic Trick returned $15.80, $7.40 and $4.60. Adcat paid $4 and $3 and completed the $56.20 exacta. Antitrust returned $4.40. (Chart, Equibase)
