Arthur B. Hancock III's Stone Farm announced the retirement of homebred grade II winner Owsley from racing. A 5-year-old daughter of deceased farm stallion Harlan, Owsley won eight of 23 races and earned $865,705. Owsley arrived at the Paris, Ky., farm Oct. 1.
"I'm delighted to have her back home," Hancock said. "She tried every time, and I couldn't be more proud of what she's accomplished."
Owsley, who was produced from the Sham mare Insipid, was first or second in seven stakes. She won the 2002 WinStar Galaxy Stakes (gr. IIT) and the New York (gr. IIT) and Glens Falls (gr. IIT) Handicaps, plus this year's Modesty Handicap (gr. IIIT). Breeding plans have not been announced.
