Lone Star Park officials are heading to Europe to publicize the track in advance of the 2004 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships. To help with publicity, Lone Star Park is sponsoring a race on the first day of Newmarket's Cambridgeshire Meeting on Oct. 2
Corey Johnsen, Lone Star Park president, and Mike Renfro, director of business development, will be at Newmarket to watch the Lone Star Park Fillies Rated Stakes.
They will be accompanied by the former top international jockey, Cash Asmussen, who is acting as consultant to the track. Cash will be making a rare return visit to Newmarket, where he won the Cheveley Park Stakes (Eng-I), the highlight of Thursday's card, on Dead Certain back in 1989.
The trio will meet with trainers, owners, racing managers and the media to provide information about the Dallas-area and the track.
