Gold Mover edges out Seeking It All in the 2000 Schuylerville Stakes.
Edward Evans' homebred millionaire Gold Mover has arrived home at her owner's Spring Hill Farm near Casanova, Va., following her retirement from racing. The 5-year-old daughter of Gold Fever finished third in the Aug. 24 Ballerina Handicap (gr. I) at Saratoga to conclude her career with 13 wins from 31 starts and earnings of $1,523,010.

"There was nothing major, just something nagging her," said trainer Mark Hennig. "She's done enough and retires sound."

Gold Mover, who was produced from the Tentam mare Intentional Move, was a graded stakes winner all four years she raced. Her 11 career added-money wins included scores in six graded stakes, including the Schuylerville Stakes (gr. II) at Saratoga and consecutive runnings of the Princess Rooney Handicap (gr. II) at Calder Race Course. In the 2002 Princes Rooney, she beat champion Xtra Heat.

Millionaire Mineshaft, who is scheduled to enter stud in 2004, is under consideration as a mate for Gold Mover next year.

Gold Mover's retirement came on the heels of the retirement of another Evans' homebred millionaires, Raging Fever, who also has settled in at the farm. Both are from the same 1998 foal crop as is another of Evans' homebred millionaires, Summer Colony, the sole horse to beat champion Azeri. Hennig plans to run Summer Colony next in either the Oct. 4 Beldame Stakes (gr. I) or the Oct. 5 Overbrook Spinster Stakes (gr. I), then make a decision as to whether to run her in the Oct. 25 Breeders' Cup Distaff – Presented by Nextel (gr. I).
