Semi Northern, a 25-year-old son of Northern Dancer, died Sept. 1 at Henry and Reta Regelink's Big Curve Acres Farm near Hawkestone, Ontario, Canada. The couple had stood and owned him since 1996.

Bred by Leslie Combs II's Spendthrift Farm, Semi Northern was bought by Moyglare Stud Farm for $125,000 at the Keeneland July yearling sale and sent to France to race. He failed to win, but placed in four of five races, including the Prix du Bel Air.

Semi Northern was returned to North America, where he sired four stakes winners. One of them, Semi Vicious, set three track records and equaled the mile record at Turf Paradise.
