Blythe Miller Davies, a retired steeplechase riding star, took out an exercise rider's license this week and is galloping horses for trainer John Shirreffs at Hollywood Park.
Best known as the regular jockey of five-time Eclipse Award-winning steeplechase horse Lonesome Glory, she returned to the saddle after her marriage May 24 in Cochraneville, Pa., to Joe Gillet Davies, an amateur rider and two-time Maryland Hunt Club champion.
She retired from steeplechase riding last year after being injured in a spill at Saratoga in August.
Her husband operates businesses in Santa Monica and Long Beach, but the couple plans to return to a farm they own in Monkton, Md., next spring. She hopes to train Thoroughbreds for both flat and steeplechase competition there.
