Honest Lady Retired to Juddmonte Farms

Honest Lady, whose powerful stretch run in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) fell a half-length short of catching Kona Gold, has been retired to Juddmonte Farms, trainer Bobby Frankel said. Frankel said he wasn't sure, but believes the daughter of Seattle Slew may be bred to Storm Cat."They (Juddmonte) didn't want to take any chances after what happened to Spanish Fern," Frankel said. "God forbid they kept her in training and something happened to her. She retires 100-percent sound. There isn't a thing wrong with her. She proved she was a great filly, having to swing 10 wide. I wasn't wrong about her. Another jump or two and she would have been champion sprinter."Honest Lady retires with six wins from 15 career starts and earnings of $894,168. The 4-year-old filly won the Santa Monica (gr. I), A Gleam (gr. II), and Distaff Breeders' Cup (gr. II) Handicaps as well as the Santa Ynez Stakes (gr. II). She also finished second in the Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I).
