Wertheimer Farm's juvenile filly Halfbridled, at 2-1, is the lowest priced favorite in the third and final round of the Breeders' Cup Future Bet, which concluded Sunday.
The Del Mar Debutante-winning daughter of Unbridled had booked a session-leading $9,874 of the 95 separate betting interests in the four group I Breeders' Cup races making up Round 3. Besides the Juvenile Filly, which garnered a total of $40,800 in the wagering, there was the Bessemer Trust Juvenile, the Filly & Mare Turf and the NetJets Mile.
Padua Stables' Class Above was second choice in the Juvenile Filly at 6-1, with Everyday Angel, a 12 1/2-length maiden winner at Saratoga in August, listed at 8-1.
Cuvee, favored at 7-2 in the Bessemer Trust Juvenile, received $8,414 of the $49,496 wagered on the race. The Juvenile attracted the most attention of the four races included in this round of wagering. It also had the most horses getting solid action, with Cactus Ridge at 7-1 and One Cool Cat and Odds On both at 9-1. All other horses besides the 23 listed drew support at 7-1.
Islington (5-1), who was third against males in the recent Irish Champion (Ire-I), edged Beverly D (gr. IT) winner Heat Haze (6-1) for favoritism in in the Filly & Mare Turf. Islington took $4,684 of the $36,368 wagered. Nebraska Tornado (7-1) and Voodoo Dancer (8-1) also drew support.
The non-listed field ended up as the 5-1 favorite in the Mile. Bettors sent through $6,057 of the $46,335 wagered on the field entry. Oasis Dream (7-1), Special Ring (7-1) and Candy Ride (8-1) led a lukewarm group of preferred individual choices.
