Darley Buys Guineas Winner Refuse To Bend

Refuse To Bend, winner of the 2002 Aga Khan Studs National Stakes (Ire-I) and this year's Sagitta Two Thousands Guineas (Eng-I), has been purchased by Sheikh Mohammed in a private deal with Walter Haefner's Moyglare Stud.

John Ferguson, bloodstock adviser to Sheikh Mohammed, said: "We are delighted to have secured Refuse To Bend as a future Darley stallion. Sheikh Mohammed has kindly agreed to lease Refuse To Bend back to Mr. Haefner so that the horse can run in the (NetJets) Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) in the Moyglare colors."

A son of Sadler's Wells, Refuse To Bend has won five of seven races, including all four of his Irish starts, and earned $573,751. He is a half-brother to millionaire Media Puzzle, out of graded stakes-placed Market Slide (by Gulch).

No decision has yet been made as to whether Refuse To Bend will stay in training as a 4-year-old or retire to stud.
