Elite Racing and Nuphri Fornaro's 3-year-old filly Formal Miss was a convincing winner of the $75,000 Judy's Red Shoes Stakes at Calder Race Course on Saturday, defeating Dakota Light by 3 ¾ lengths.

Miss Tassy finished third in the 1 1/16 miles turf stakes.

Winner of the Lenta overnight stakes here on grass in May, Formal Miss today raced in similar fashion by stalking the pace. Jockey Manoel Cruz was looking for running room near the quarter pole and found it coming out of the turn with three-sixteenths of a mile to go.

Formal Miss covered the distance in 1:45 1/5 over a turf course labeled 'good.' The favorite paid $6.80, 3.40 and 2.80. A Florida-bred daughter of Formal Dinner, she is trained by Paul Maxwell. The victory today marks her fourth in 11 career starts.
