Headed by Travers Stakes (gr. I) winner Ten Most Wanted, the connections of 12 horses have made sustaining payments for the grade II, $500,000 Super Derby XXIV at Louisiana Downs on Sept. 20.

In addition to Ten Most Wanted, sustaining payments have been made for three late Super Derby nominees -- Grand Hombre, Soto, and Traffic Chief. Earle I. Mack's Grand Hombre posted an upset victory in the $750,000 Pennsylvania Derby (gr. III) at Philadelphia Park on Labor Day, Gallop LLC's undefeated Soto won the West Virginia Derby (gr. III) at Mountaineer Park on Aug. 9, and Barry Schwartz' homebred Traffic Chief won the $150,000 Albany Stakes for New York-bred 3-year-olds at Saratoga on Aug. 20.

Soto will ship to Louisiana Downs from his base in Maryland the day before the race according to trainer Michael Dickinson, who was at the Keeneland September yearling sale Wednesday afternoon.

The list also includes the respective top four finishers from the Prelude Stakes, including winner Kool Humor, whose victory gave him a fees-paid berth in the Super Derby. The three other Prelude horses are Zydeco Affair, Crowned King, and Taxicat.

Others on the sustaining nomination list are Lone Star Derby (gr. III) winner Dynever and Affirmed Handicap (gr. III) winner Eye of the Tiger. Godolphin Racing, which won the Super Derby XXIII with Essence of Dubai, has allowance winner Inamorato still on the Super Derby list, as is Shadwell's Tafaseel.
