The Sept. 1 Miami Mile Breeders' Cup Handicap has had its graded status reinstated by the American Graded Stakes Committee. When the race was taken from the turf to the dirt, due to weather considerations, it was downgraded from a grade III race to an ungraded stakes race. However, the committee has reviewed the race and returned its graded status, giving winner Tour of the Cat his first graded stakes victory, and earning graded stakes-placed status to second-place finisher Last Stand and third-place finisher Lavender's Lad.
