But the local Chamber of Commerce must have put in a good word with someone because the forecast for the Oct. 25 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships is for a high of 78 degrees.The National Weather Center forecast calls for better weather each day as the week progresses toward the 20th Breeders' Cup.The high on Tuesday is to be 92, then 90 on Wednesday and 86 on Thursday. The temperature is then to drop to a high of 80 on Friday and 78 on race day.The Breeders' Cup has been run at Santa Anita twice before. It was 81 degrees in 1993 and 73 degrees in 1986. The warmest Breeders' Cup was 1992 in Florida when it was 87 degrees at Gulfstream Park. At Churchill Downs in 1991 and Belmont Park in 1990 it was 43 degrees each year.
