Boundary Colt Tops Fasig-Tipton Canada Sale; Gross, Average Rise Slightly

A Boundary colt sold for $175,000 ($126,858 in U.S. funds) Tuesday to top the Fasig-Tipton Canadian-bred sale's select session, which posted small gains in the gross revenue and average price. Trainer Roger Attfield purchased the colt from Fred Seitz' Kentucky-based Brookdale Farm, agent. The sale topper's dam, Affirmative Choice (by Affirmed) is a half-sister to Canadian Horse of the Year Imperial Choice (by Gregorian), Canadian champion Golden Choice (by Val de l'Orne), and grade III winner Shadow Miss (by Alysheba).Fasig-Tipton reported that 152 horses were sold in all for a gross of $6,413,000 ($4,648,784), an average of $42,191 ($30,584), and a median of $32,000 ($23,197). Compared to a year ago, the gross and average increased 2.5% and 1.8%. The median fell 8.6%.The buyback rate increased from 20.5% last year to 27.6% this year.Open sessions of the auction will be held Friday and Saturday.
