TVG has reached an agreement with Ascot Racecourse and the BBC to televise live coverage of the 2000 Royal Ascot meeting next Wednesday, June 21 from 10:00 am to 1:00 p (EDT). The network reported that due to time constraints, wagering will not be offered on the four races. The program will be hosted by Chris Harrison, with Caton Bredar and Frank Lyons as analysts.
The TVG Royal Ascot coverage will include the Prince of Wales's Stakes (Eng-I), in which Dubai Millennium will be making his first start since winning the $6 million Dubai World Cup over an international field. American jockey Jerry Bailey, riding for Godolphin Racing in place of injured Frankie Dettori, will ride Dubai Millennium. Also shown will be the Royal Hunt Cup, the Chesham Stakes, and Ascot Stakes.
"We are extremely pleased to partner with Ascot Racecourse and BBC to bring our American audience one of the most unique and prestigious events in horseracing," said Tom Aronson, senior vice president of international development for TVG. "Royal Ascot joins the Dubai World Cup, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Carlos Pellegrini as major international events shown live on the network. This is a reflection of our genuine commitment to British racing and the effort to expand TVG programming to feature the best that racing has to offer worldwide."
