Halfbridled Pointing to Oak Leaf Sept. 28

A happy Richard Mandella reported Sunday morning that Del Mar Debutante (gr. I) winner Halfbridled came out of her stirring 4 3/4-length victory Saturday in good shape.

The daughter of Unbridled will be pointed toward the Oak Leaf Stakes (gr. II) at a mile at Santa Anita on Sept. 28, the trainer said.

Halfbridled is reminiscent of Mandella's 1993 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) winner Phone Chatter, the trainer said following the race. He said that gives him encouragement to look ahead to the possibility of saddling Halfbridled for this year's Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita Oct. 25.
