The second annual Saratoga mixed sale, conducted by J.T. Minton Auctions, will be held Sept. 28 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. During the sale's first edition last October, the 99 horses sold grossed $493,500 and averaged $4,985. The auction has been moved from a Saturday to a Tuesday, a dark day for racing in New York, to further accommodate the state's trainers.
"We could not have been more pleased with our first sale," said Jeffrey T. Minton of Minton Auctions. "Not only did Mother Nature give us a glorious fall weekend, but both buyers and sellers had a positive experience and their feedback was extremely supportive of the need for this sale to continue in New York state."
Said Dennis Brida, executive director of the New York Thoroughbred Breeders: "Jeff did a great job getting that first sale off the ground, and the breeders look forward to 2004 being even bigger and better."
