The Horse Farm Workers' Educational Assistance Fund has awarded its most scholarships ever--46. The awards are based on need, merit, and personal interviews, and go to children of full-time workers on Central Kentucky Thoroughbred breeding farms for education beyond high school. (Some scholarships are also available for horse farm workers who wish to take courses for further their equine or career skills.) The fund began in 1996, and has awarded 208 scholarships averaging $2,000 since its inception. Magna Entertainment Corp. has appointed Greg Lewis as its Vice-President, Television Production. Lewis has worked with MEC for the past 16 months as a consultant on television, communications and sports marketing initiatives, and as executive producer of the inaugural Sunshine Millions broadcast that aired on NBC. Lewis will be responsible for coordinating the production aspects of MEC's television operations in support of: MEC's nationwide simulcast operations; HorseRacing TV, MEC's 24-hour horse racing television network; and major racing events like the Sunshine Millions. Lewis has been a television producer, packager, syndicator, writer, host and correspondent, working in sports, news, entertainment and documentary TV since 1976. He has earned Emmy honors for writing and special program achievement, among other awards. During his career, Lewis has worked with NBC Sports, CBS Sports and News, HBO, Turner Sports, OLN, and HDNet, and was a producer and writer for two syndicated television specials on the Triple Crown.
