Evangeline Sale Boosted By Franks Horses

Boosted by a group of horses sold as part of the continuing dispersal of racing and breeding stock owned by the late John Franks, the 2-year-olds in training and paddock sale at Evangeline Downs racetrack in Louisiana March 14 grossed $1,503,500.

Of that amount, $1,189,300 was for the 95 horses sold by Carousel Bloodstock as agent for the Franks estate.

The Franks horses averaged $12,519 while the other 45 horses sold averaged $6,982.

Don Stemmans conducted the auction in association with the racetrack.

The sale topper, added late to the sale, was the 3-year-old colt Notonetoquit, who a week before the auction ran seventh in optional claiming company at Fair Grounds. He has won one of six starts and earned $19,720. By Toolightoquit out of the Lively One mare Lively Rene, Nontonetoquit was purchased by Dustin Vaughn, L&D Farm for $70,000. He was part of the Franks dispersal.

The top price of the non-Franks estate horses was $42,000 for Grande Diablo, a 2-year-old gelding by Bag out of the Tasso mare fine Tassles. Consigned by Dale Angelle as agent for Greg Champagne, Grand Diablo was listed as purchased by Angelle.
