Wiseman's Ferry, who won two graded stakes last year, has been retired from racing after injuring an ankle while training for a stakes at Mountaineer Park in August. He is owned by Morton Fink, Lee Sacks, Frank and Mattie Justice's Dell Ridge Farm, and Don and Dana Myers' Swifty Farms.
Wiseman's Ferry earned $766,552 of his career total of $825,266 last year as a 3-year-old. He captured the West Virginia (gr. III) and Lone Star (gr. III) Derbys, and missed winning the Ohio Derby (gr. II) by a neck in a runner-up effort.
Bred in Kentucky by Nursery Place and Robert T. Manfuso, Wiseman's Ferry (Hennessy--Emmaus, by Silver Deputy) began his racing career in Ireland for Sue Magnier before being returned to the U.S. to be trained by Niall O'Callaghan. He retires with four wins from 16 starts. Breeding plans are incomplete.
