A field of 14 turf sprinters, led by Fiscally Speaking, are expected in Saturday's $100,000 Shakertown Sprint (gr. IIIT), going 5 1/2 furlongs at Keeneland.
Fiscally Speaking has had success over the Keeneland grass and is looking to redeam himself after finishing second, just missing by a length. The Carl Nafzger-trainee will have Jose Santos aboard.
The gelded son of Belong to Me
finished second, a length back, in his lone start, an optional allowance claiming event, in his only start at Gulfstream Park this year.
Trainer John Hennig entered R.D. Hubbard's Banned in Boston. The son of Boston Harbor will be making his first start of the year. He last finished scored a three-length win in a Nov. 27 optional allowance claiming contest over yielding turf at Churchill Downs. Brice Blanc will ride.
Abderian has posted two third-place finishes on the Keeneland turf including last year's Shakertown. The Jeff Mullins-trainee ships in from California for the race.Most recently, Abderian most recently finished second in a 6 1/2-furlong contest. The 7-year-old gelding began the year with a fifth-place finish in a 6 1/2 furlong claiming contest. Both races were at Santa Anita. Javier Santiago gets the call.
