Picturesque Xalapa Farm in Paris, Ky., which was used as the backdrop for several scenes in the movie Seabiscuit, is now offering complete boarding services for mares and horses of all ages. Additionally, Xalapa has contracted Ben Kessinger, formerly of Darby Dan Farm and the Emirates Racing Association in Dubai, to run their client development efforts.

Xalapa, which sits on 500 acres, has 50 stalls measuring 14- by 14-feet that have been reconditioned to their original form and are available to accommodate foaling, barren and maiden mares. A staff is available to provide 24-hour-a-day professional care. Additionally, the farm provides lay-up and a separate quarantine barn with paddocks for quarantined horses.

"We are thrilled to provide a beautiful and tranquil atmosphere for potential clients," said Alex Neuman. "This farm has been in our family for over 100 years, and we can't wait to share the uniqueness of the farm with others."

Kessinger worked in the stallion division of Darby Dan Farm, selling nominations and seasons to prospective breeders for all of Darby Dan's stallions. While in Dubai in 2002-2003, he worked in the Racing Secretary's office as Pattern Race Coordinator, while also taking race entries.

Founded in 1897 by Edward Francis Simms, Xalapa Farm has bred and developed many stakes-caliber horses, including champion Suave Dancer, winner of the 1991 Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby). Xalapa Farm is owned and operated by Dr. Emler and Celeste Neuman and their family; they are the fourth generation of the Simms family to do so.
