Smarty Jones has been rated the best horse to race anywhere in the world since 1990 by international rating agency Globeform.
Smarty Jones registered a Globeform rating of 141 for his record romp in the Preakness Stakes (gr. I), making him the first horse to crack the 140 barrier since Globeform ratings were created in 1990.
"How can a horse win the (Kentucky) Derby, then come back two weeks later and take the Preakness, without even having to dig deep at least for a few strides?" wrote Globeform editor Geir Stabell. "The answer is as simple as it is unique; by being far superior to his rivals."
Smarty Jones received a 119 rating for his win in the Arkansas Derby (gr. II) and a 128 for his Kentucky Derby triumph.
"We have seen some seriously good racehorses around the world over the past decade but Smarty Jones is the best," Stabell continued. "Better than Dubai Millenium, better than Point Given, better than Cigar, better than Tiznow, better than Peintre Celebre."
