Donn Handicap (gr.I) winner Harlan's Holiday may have suffered a career-ending injury Saturday in the Saratoga Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr.II) at Saratoga Race Course.

Harlan's Holiday finished last of eight in the 1 1/4-mile race as the 5-2 second choice in the betting. Trainer Todd Pletcher said that the 4-year-old colt strained the medial suspensory branch of his right hind leg, an injury that would likely force him to be retired.

"He obviously did this during the course of the race," Pletcher said.

In 22 starts for Starlight Stable, the 4-year-old Ohio-bred son of Harlan has a record of 9-6-1 and earnings of $3.6 million.

Harlan's Holiday began the 2003 season with an allowance victory at Gulfstream Park, then won the Donn by 2 1/2 lengths over Hero's Tribute. He finished second to Moon Ballad in the Dubai World Cup (UAE-I). I In the Brooklyn Handicap (gr.II) he missed the break and finished fifth, beaten 14 1/2), then ran second to Congaree in the Hollywood Gold Cup (gr.I) on July 13.
