Trainer Gary Sciacca, assistant Paul Barone and groom Oscar DeLeon on Monday all appealed suspensions for an alleged milkshake incident at Belmont Park.
Sciacca was suspended 45 days by the state Racing and Wagering Board under the trainer responsibility rule, and Barone and DeLeon got 60 days each after investigators reportedly witnessed Barone, DeLeon and veterinarian John McGuire administer a mixture of bicarbonate soda and sugar to Storm River Kelly June 28. Storm River Kelly was scratched from the race.
McGuire was suspended 60 days and had the matter referred to the state Racing and Wagering Board. He also appealed the ruling.
