Vincent Rivera, who has been the assistant chaplain at Arlington Park and Hawthorne Race Course, has joined the Blue Grass Farms Chaplaincy as its full-time chaplain.
BGFC, a division of the Race Track Chaplaincy of America, serves those working in the Central Kentucky horse farm community.
"We are very pleased to welcome Chaplain Vincent Rivera to our Central Kentucky farm ministry," said Dr. Enrique Torres, RTCA executive director. "Chaplain Rivera comes to us with a great commitment to the people at the farms to whom he will be serving. "I truly believe that Chaplain Rivera and the services that are provided by the Blue Grass Farms Chaplaincy of Lexington to the people of the horse farms will be a great blessing."
Rivera, 49, is a native of Mexico City who moved to Chicago 30 years ago. In January, Rivera attended the RTCA chaplain school. For the past four months, he was in direct internship assignments under Arlington's senior chaplain, Luis Peralta. Rivera and his wife, Esperanza, arrived in Lexington Aug. 12 with their 12-year-old daughter, Denise. The Rivera's have two older daughters who are married and live with their families in the Chicago area.
