Biszantz Re-Elected TOBA Chair

Gary Biszantz was re-elected chairman of its board of trustees for the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association Friday. Also joining Biszantz on the Board of Trustees to serve three-year terms as new members are Bill Casner, Stuart Janney III, and Trudy McCaffrey.

Re-elected to three-year terms were current trustees Reynolds Bell, Jr., C. Steven Duncker, H. Greg Goodman, David Hayden, G. Watts Humphrey, Russell Jones, Allan Lavin, Jr., Nick Nicholson, John Phillips, Barry Schwartz, and Duncan Taylor.

Immediately following its annual Members meeting, the TOBA Board of Trustees met to elect officers for the 3,000-member association. Named as officers for 2002-2003 are: Gary Biszantz, chairman, Daniel Metzger, president; Reynolds Bell, Jr. and John Phillips, vice-presidents; Donald Dizney, secretary; and Robert Manfuso, treasurer.

"I am honored to return as chairman of TOBA," said Biszantz. "We have a very strong board of trustees and the organization has made terrific strides in the past year on such key issues as uniform medication, new owner recruitment, and the development of the Thoroughbred Championship Tour. The owners and breeders need a strong and influential voice in our industry and we at TOBA will work to provide it."

The TOBA Board also approved the re-appointment of Dell Hancock to the American Graded Stakes Committee. Also, the TOBA Board approved the appointment of Stuart Janney III as chairman of The Blood-Horse, Inc.

The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association is a national organization dedicated to improving the economics, integrity, and enjoyment of Thoroughbred racing on behalf of owners and breeders. The Association owns The Blood-Horse, Inc., publisher of The Blood-Horse magazine, administers the American Graded Stakes Committee and The Greatest Game, conducts a broad-based series of educational programs for owners, and created America's Day at the Races and Claiming Crown.
