Youbet.com announced that CEO Charles F. (Chuck) Champion has been elected unanimously to the additional role of chairman of the board. The election follows Lawrence R. Lucas' resignation as director and board chairman. Lucas, who has served as chairman since May of 2002, is leaving the Youbet.com board to launch a new venture in the international gaming industry that could produce strategic business opportunities for Youbet.com in the future, according to a Youbet.com release... Maryland Jockey Club and
Magna Entertainment Corp. announced that the Maryland premiere of the movie "Seabiscuit " on July 23 raised over $181,000 for two Maryland charities--Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Maryland Horse Industry Foundation. The advance screening drew an audience of 860 people to the historic Senator Theatre in Baltimore.
