(Edited Keeneland press release)
Ed Friendly's Prioress (gr. I) winner Friendly Michelle tops a field of 10 3-year-old fillies entered for the sixth running of the $200,000 Raven Run Stakes (gr. II) Friday at Keeneland. A winner of five races in nine lifetime starts, Friendly Michelle captured the La Troienne (gr. III) at Churchill Downs earlier this year. The Bob Baffert-trained runner has a pressing style that should suit this field. Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day will ride her for the first time in the Raven Run.
Mrs. E. Paul Robsham's Feline Story captured the Floral Park Handicap (gr. III) in her latest trip to the gate. The Stanley Hough trainee finished second to Friendly Michelle in the Prioress in July. She has been first or second in five of seven starts on off tracks and with rain forecast all week, the ability to run in the mud might be paramount. Robby Albarado will be aboard.
Debby Oxley's Vision of Beauty has never finished worse than second in three lifetime races, winning two of them. The Raven Run will mark the daughter of Danzig's stakes debut. An impressive maiden winner in her initial start at Gulfstream Park last winter, the filly trained by John T. Ward Jr. most recently captured an allowance race at Saratoga. She has dangerous early speed and will have her regular rider Jorge Chavez aboard to ration it.
