Fan favorite Persian Punch collected the second stakes win of his 10-year-old campaign with a gutsy victory in the two-mile Lady O Goodwood Cup (Eng-II).
After setting the pace throughout, Persian Punch was momentarily headed approaching the final furlong. However, Persian Punch was able to re-rally inside the final 100 yards to overtake Jardines Lookout by a short head at the wire. Boreas finished another five lengths back in third.
Owned by J.C. Smith, Persian Punch has now won 18 of 58 career starts with eight seconds and 11 thirds in eight seasons of racing. The gelded son of Persian Heights was bred in Ireland by Adstock Manor Stud.
